How much does a tandem skydive near NYC cost? At Skydive the Ranch, the published tandem price is $239 per person on weekdays or $249 on weekends. Optional handcam video is listed at $110, bringing the combined example to $349 on a weekday or $359 on a weekend, before discounts.

The price of the jump is the starting point for your budget. You will also want to decide whether to add video, understand how the reservation deposit works and allow for your own travel plans. This guide explains those decisions using the Ranch’s published prices and policies, reviewed October 2, 2026. Check our current tandem prices and discounts before booking.

Tandem skydiving cost near NYC: the basic numbers

These examples are per person, before discounts. The handcam totals are calculated by adding the listed $110 optional media price to the tandem price. They are worked examples using published prices, rather than a verified checkout quote for a particular reservation.

Ranch price examples reviewed October 2, 2026
Option Weekday Weekend
Tandem skydive $239 $249
Optional handcam $110 $110
Jump plus handcam $349 $359

Choosing a weekday instead of a weekend changes the published jump price by $10 per person. Adding handcam changes the example budget by $110. Those are separate decisions: which day works for your group, and whether you want a recording of the experience.

What does the advertised tandem price include?

The Ranch’s pricing page says its rates include everything needed to make the tandem skydive and advertises no hidden fees. It also says the price is the same whether you book online or in person and whether you pay by credit card or cash. No additional mandatory fee is listed on the pages reviewed for this guide.

Optional media is listed separately. That distinction matters when looking at the advertised jump price: a tandem reservation and a jump with handcam have different budgets. Start with the option you want, rather than assuming video is included in the base price.

For the jump experience and arrival requirements, read our First Skydive information. This budget guide does not replace that preparation information or your reservation confirmation.

How much is a tandem skydive with video?

The Ranch lists Handcam Video at $110. Its video and stills page describes a selfie-perspective highlight video and 10 to 15 still pictures, and includes a sample you can watch before deciding.

The combined examples in the table add this optional media cost to your jump. They do not apply a discount or assume a group organizer benefit.

Watching the sample gives you a better basis for deciding than the word “video” alone. Consider whether you want a recording to revisit or share, and then budget for the listed offering. The Ranch’s current media details should guide that choice; another operator’s camera packages do not describe what is offered here.

Is the $50 reservation deposit an extra charge?

The published reservation wording says your card will be charged a $50 deposit and you will pay the balance when you arrive. That supports treating the deposit as part of the tandem price, rather than adding $50 on top of it.

For a jump-only booking at the published weekday price, $239 minus the $50 deposit leaves $189. At the weekend price, $249 minus $50 leaves $199. In each example, the deposit and remaining payment add up to the advertised jump price.

These are jump-only examples before discounts. The published pages do not provide a separate checkout breakdown showing when handcam is charged or how every discount changes the remaining payment. Check your confirmation or ask the office if you need that exact breakdown for your booking.

Which skydiving discounts could apply?

The pricing page lists several discounts with different conditions, including group, Early Bird, active military, returning customer and college student offers. The right question is which offer your booking qualifies for, rather than how many discounts you can add together.

The Group Rates row explicitly says it cannot be combined with other discounts. The site also requires advance reservations for group discounts. Do not assume that assembling a group on arrival will satisfy those conditions.

Some listed offers include organizer benefits, so the organizer’s cost can differ from another participant’s. Before collecting money from friends, review the relevant row and confirm the group’s arrangements with the office. The worked examples above deliberately leave discounts out, making the starting budget clear without promising eligibility.

Budgeting for the trip from NYC or New Paltz

The Ranch is at 55 Sand Hill Road, Gardiner, NY, approximately 70 miles north of NYC and six miles south of New Paltz. For a trip from NYC, use the Gardiner address when checking your route.

Your travel budget depends on how you get here and what else you choose to do. Keep transport, meals and any other activities separate from the skydiving price. A quoted tandem rate should not be treated as the total cost of an entire day out.

Time matters too. Your reservation time is your arrival time, and the Ranch advises allowing 2–3 hours on site. Keep later plans flexible instead of treating that guidance as a guaranteed departure time. For a fall visit, our New Paltz fall skydiving guide connects the jump with local day-trip planning.

What happens to the deposit if the weather changes?

The published policy distinguishes weather-related inability to jump from a no-show or failure to cancel. If weather prevents the jump, the page provides for rescheduling or a deposit refund. It separately warns that no-shows or people who do not cancel may lose their deposits.

That is not an unconditional refund promise for every situation. Read the current reservation terms before booking, particularly if your group has limited flexibility. The page says reservation changes are allowed up to 48 hours before the skydive. If you are concerned about the weather, call the office before traveling.

Put your skydiving budget together

Choose a weekday or weekend date, decide whether you want handcam, check any discount conditions and count the reservation deposit toward the tandem price. Add your own travel plans afterward. This keeps the budget grounded in the experience you are actually booking.
